Our story

A Family Connection Since 1929

Bond Coastal Lettings is built around a long family connection to Seahouses, the harbour and this special stretch of the Northumberland coast.

Rooted in Seahouses

Our family’s connection to Seahouses dates back to 1929. Over the years, the village, harbour and coastline have become a huge part of our family story.

In 1958, Frederick Smith bought his first property here, beginning the next chapter of that connection. What started as a personal family link with Seahouses has grown into something we are proud to share with guests today.

These are not just holiday lets to us. They are part of our family history.

Then and now

From construction to coastal stays

These photographs show the story of the cottages over time, from the early building work to the family properties as they stand today.

The cottages today

Spider Cottage remains our family home, with Tidal Cottage sitting directly above it. Wamses Retreat is to the right of Tidal Cottage, offering another coastal stay close to the harbour, sea views and village life.

Our cottages

Family homes with a Seahouses story

Spider Cottage, Tidal Cottage and Wamses Retreat each have their own character, but the aim is the same: to give guests a comfortable and memorable stay in the heart of Seahouses.

The cottages are well placed for harbour walks, boat trips, beaches, Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands.

Frederick Smith

The beginning of a family chapter

Frederick Smith played an important part in our family’s Seahouses story. His purchase of the first family property here in 1958 helped create a connection that continues through the generations.

Getting in touch has changed a bit since this photograph was taken, but the personal service has not. We still want guests to feel looked after, welcomed and able to contact us directly when they need us.
